Overthinking.

January 8, 2020

Are you an over thinker? Me too!!!

Funny story. So this is a topic that has been on my mind a lot lately, and I even did a session on it yesterday for my team and our Empower Coaching members. (Read to the end for info on when I will be sharing this information here!)

And then a few hours later I did the overthinking thing myself ...

If you follow me on Instagram (@karen.w.cooper) you probably saw this cute post I did with my son and a snowman that featured a snowman kit that my team and I have given away the last couple winters as pop bys. It wasn't my intention to also post it to Facebook, but it accidentally posted anyway.

Here's where the overthinking comes in ... because it mentioned the words "pop by" and I have so many past clients, sphere and database people that I am connected with on Facebook I didn't want to share it. I was afraid that it was maybe not as genuine, so I rushed to Facebook to delete the post.

Then literally at the EXACT time I was going into Facebook I got a text message from a past client sharing a photo of the snowman her daughter made using the kit, and I realized I was being silly.

Instead of deleting the post I edited it a little bit, took off the hashtags and added a sentence to say that I have a few extra kits (because I do) and offering them up to anyone in the area who would like one. In fact, it's even posted there twice!

Guess what?

Not only did I have several of my past clients who have received the kits in the past comment on the post with the photos of their kids using them yesterday (we had a snow day), but I had others who did their own posts and tagged me thanking me for the kit. I also had several people commenting asking for one of their own, some of whom are not currently on my database.

So there you have it. The teacher is taught the lesson once again.

I've compiled a list of some of the most frequently "over thought" mindsets and comments about marketing and staying in touch with your clients and database that I've heard over the years and I will be addressing them during our Empowering Women In Real Estate Virtual Meet Up ... which is tomorrow Thursday, January 9th at 10 am EST via Facebook Live here in the group.

Don't worry if you can't catch us live, it will be recorded and posted to the group.

Where are some of the areas in your business that you tend to overthink? Comment here and I will address it tomorrow during the Virtual Meet Up!
