Thank you so much for all of the comments and messages from my post yesterday!
One of the things that I have been working on doing more intentionally this week (and also inspired by "When Less Becomes More", our current Empowering Women In Real Estate book club selection), is slowing down, and eliminating a lot of the "extra" distractions and demands on my time.
I've been doing a lot of this with social media and email, and wanted to share some of that with you in case you are in need of the same!
I didn't realize just how many groups I am in on Facebook! And many of them had notifications set up, some via email and some just notifications within Facebook itself (that little bell that highlights at the top right of your screen). Here is how to adjust your notifications and see all of your groups in one place ...
*From the Facebook app on your phone, tap the 3 bars at the bottom right corner.
*Scroll to "Groups"
*Top left, tap "Your Groups". Here you can see all of the groups you are in.
*Tap the "gear" at the top right. I started with "Notifications" and adjusted the groups I no longer wanted notifications to. Of course, I recommend that you accept All Notifications for Empowering Women In Real Estate. 🙂
Go back and you can tap Following and Membership to unfollow groups or leave them all together.
Did you know that you can "mute" accounts? I have accounts that I want to follow to "support" the person, but maybe aren't always interested in their stories or posts, but I don't want to unfollow them ... mute to the rescue! By "muting" the account you can choose not to have their stories or posts (or both) in your feed, while still following the account. Here's how ...
*Tap on a profile for an account.
*At the middle of the screen you will see "Following" with a drop down arrow. Tap the arrow.
*From here you can choose notifications and you can also tap mute to mute their posts or stories (or both)
UNSUBSCRIBE! I am not anti-email (we have an Empowering Women In Real Estate newsletter coming out soon!) ... there are several mailing lists and newsletters that I like to receive, but many others either come in too frequently or are not applicable to me. Here's what to do ...
*Scroll to the bottom of the email and click unsubscribe
*Move the email to your junk folder (so future versions will go there as well)
*Use a service like Unroll.me. With this I get 1 "roll up" email per day that includes the majority of the newsletters, sales flyers, etc that I want to receive, but this saves me a ton of time because instead of constantly having the emails come into my box and addressing them, I can scan all of them at once in one email
Another email tip that has been helpful to me ... I've been setting aside time each morning to go through my email (I set a timer) and when the timer goes off, I'm done and I move onto other things. I'll check back in quickly at lunch and maybe again at the end of the day, but I am done bouncing in and out of it all day.
We have so many outside influences grabbing at our time. Setting some boundaries for yourself can be a huge help.
