Super Summer Boot Camp - Week 8
Can you believe that summer is almost over? My kids go back to school in 3 weeks. Time sure does fly.
As the seasons are preparing to change, our real estate market is too. I feel like my business suddenly "woke up" again in the past few days. It's just about time to start focusing on strong end of 3rd quarter/4th quarter activities to keep your business going all winter long, and to plant those seeds to help you get off to a great start at the beginning of 2017.
A great way to do this is to set yourself apart and do something special, do a pop by! For much of my career I only did pop bys at Christmas time, I picked my favorite buyers from that year and delivered a "New Home" glass ornament to their house. The ornament was around $10, and I would write a note on the bottom with a sharpie. Guaranteed that every Christmas when they unpacked their decorations they would think of me! I still love that one, and still do a version of it in December, but I have definitely seen the value of doing them throughout the year and have been doing 10-15 pop bys each quarter this year.
Your pop by doesn't have to be expensive, and you don't need to deliver them to everyone in your database. Perhaps just plan to do a couple each month, and rotate amongst the folks you deliver to. I use the Buffini Referral Maker CRM, and the accompanying app tells me who I am close to when I am out and about ... I can pull up the app, see which clients are nearest where I am, and deliver my pop bys. It's a great way to be efficient with my time. Keep a few pop bys in your car so when you are out and have a few extra minutes you are ready to go.
As with everything, there is a "gold standard" way to do it ... Catch every client when they are home and see them face to face when you deliver your pop by, and then there is good enough ... Leaving it on their doorstep when they are not at home (follow up with a text to let them know it is there) or even paying someone to deliver them for you. If you are delivering during the day, you are not likely to see your client anyway, and they will still be so thrilled that you thought enough of them to drop a little something off.
There are lots of great resources for coming up with pop by ideas. Try the website www.PopByIdeas.com. Ask around to other realtors in your office. We like to do seasonal ones. This is a great month to do school supplies for clients who have children in school or are teachers. Pencils, crayons or colored pencils, and glue sticks are pretty much needed by everyone in school and can be picked up very inexpensively. Whether you attach a custom card with a clever saying or just attach your business card, either way your client will love your thoughtfulness.
