What does your day look like today? If you had appointments all weekend, then maybe today is a day "off" or day of rest for you. Early in my career I had the opportunity to work with a coach (Linda McLean of McLean International) and after months and months of working 7 days per week one of the first things she taught me was that I truly needed a day off each week in order to be my most productive. Ideally two days, but we started with one. No appointments, a periodic check in with email and voicemail, and then the day to myself. That was my Monday for quite a long time.
Now my day(s) off more often fall on the weekend, and so Monday is the start of the work week for me. For today, I'm starting my morning spending some time planning out my week, a listing appointment midday, signing a new listing early afternoon, then doing a staging "walk through" for a friend/colleague for their own personal home before it goes on the market. My plan is to wrap up the day by 5 so we can have an early dinner together as a family before my husband goes to a little league baseball meeting tonight.
As much as I love to have my day free flowing, I know that I am my most efficient and effective when I have a schedule identified for my day. Time for email, time for follow ups, time for appointments. I know that when I plan my work intentionally, then I can also plan my "play" time intentionally.
What is on your schedule today?
