For real estate agents, Sundays rarely equal a day of rest, and is often more like our Friday. Chances are though, for the others in our families the hustle and bustle of a new week starts tomorrow.
About a month or so ago I started a quick Sunday routine in my house which has really helped me to be more prepared for the week. It only takes about an hour, and the kids help. We do a lot of those little silly things that are a major annoyance at 6:15 on a Tuesday morning when I am desperate for a cup of coffee before I get the first round of kids up for school, or at 8:30 on a Wednesday night when we've just gotten home from baseball and need to eat dinner fast, get everyone cleaned up and off to bed. Things like ... filling the napkin holder on the kitchen table, filling the baskets/containers on the kitchen counter for coffee, tea and raw sugar packets, emptying all the trash cans in the bedrooms and bathrooms, making sure all the bathrooms have toilet paper, tidying up and running the vaccuum, watering the plants. These are quick, silly things (and the house being "tidy" lasts about 15 minutes, but still), but it really helps to eliminate some of that rushed craziness during the week.
I've also started sitting down with my planner and mapping out my schedule for the week. Setting aside some time blocking for working on my business, making notes of any important things that need to get done, time sensitive tasks, etc.
So for today, with my husband working a 24 hour shift and my showing assistant handling a showing for me, I'm going to finish another cup of coffee and enjoy the wonderful cool breeze from the front porch, do my weekly prep and catch up on some paperwork and emails, pick up the grocery order and lunch for my boys, then we will cheer on our Redskins to another loss, I mean hopefully a win, this afternoon.
Do you have a routine to prep for the week? What are you up to today?
